At Shri S. M. Shah Vidyamandir in Savli, Smart Village Movement (SVM), in collaboration with Curiosity Gym (CG), has transformed classroom learning through a STEM Innovation Lab — a space where creativity meets technology.

This is one of the 12 STEM Innovation Hubs that SVM has launched in Gujarat and now expanding to 35 more schools to bring modern learning opportunities to remote and underprivileged rural communities.

Experiential Learning: Students who once only read about science in textbooks are now learning by doing — from using 3D pens and printers to designing circuits on breadboards and experimenting with robotics.

“Earlier, I had never used a 3D pen or worked with electronics,” says Dhiral Lakshmanbhai, a Class 9 student. “Now I can make 3D drawings and simple LED circuits. My parents were amazed to see what I created in the lab!”

Sustaining Rural Health Transformation

The success of the five Meghalaya Digital Dispensaries reflects the strength of technology-led healthcare delivery, strong community engagement, and seamless coordination between government, healthcare experts, and local teams. Recognizing this impact, the Government of Meghalaya has extended the Apollo Hospital Enterprise Ltd (AHEL)–Smart Village Movement partnership until 2027.

Under this new phase, three digital dispensaries: Tyrsad, Mawdngung, and Tura will continue to be supported by the state government. The other two centers at Rongjeng and Dadenggre will transition to CSR funding mobilized by Apollo Hospitals. Additionally, a new CSR-supported digital dispensary will be established at a location mutually identified and approved by the government.

The state government’s commitment to SVM’s innovative model, along with Apollo’s proactive CSR mobilization, demonstrates how sustainable health initiatives are reshaping rural healthcare in Meghalaya and enabling communities to prosper and thrive. Read More….

Umiam Lake Cleaning and Waste Management Project

Guided by the Smart Village Movement (SVM), the Umiam Lake Cleaning and Waste Management Project is restoring one of Meghalaya’s most vital water sources. The lake powers electricity and supports local livelihoods, yet years of waste inflow from nearby towns have endangered its ecosystem.

Through collaboration between SVM, Eco-Ri, Clearbot, and the Mawdun village community, innovation meets grassroots leadership to protect Umiam for future generations. What began as a clean-up mission has evolved into a story of awareness, responsibility, and resilience.

Under SVM’s guidance, the people of Mawdun have united to clean the lake and manage waste more sustainably — addressing a challenge that impacts not only the environment but also livelihoods tied to fishing and tourism.

Smart Village Movement supports rural development in India by bringing technology to solve chronic problems. The Umiam Lake Project stands as a testament to how technology, local leadership, and community participation can revive ecosystems and inspire sustainable water and waste management for generations to come.
