Dear Friends, It is with much pleasure that I share some great news. Smart Village Movement’s Prime Project in preventive healthcare, coined Positive Public Healthcare Management (PPHM), launched in collaboration with the Government of Meghalaya, was recognized and appreciated on a global platform at the World Open Innovation Conference in the Netherlands. Our State Director Tulenam Laloo represented Smart Village Movement in presenting how social and technological innovations can hugely impact human welfare and development. We aspire to take this model of healthcare from disease management to disease prevention throughout India in the near future. Other groundbreaking news is the scaling of our successful Drone Delivery pilot with innovation partner Tech Eagle who launched Asia’s first drone delivery hub in Meghalaya. This is a hub and spoke model that covers most of the hilly and remote regions in Meghalaya within 30 minutes to deliver life-saving medicines and supplies to hard-to-access rural areas. Lastly, as we close this year, I would like to thank all our partners, supporters, and donors who put their confidence in Smart Village Movement Foundation and believe in our redefined model of rural development with smart philanthropy. For your Holiday Giving, please consider supporting our endeavor to bring lasting and sustainable change to rural communities. Our philanthropic focus is not on charity but on initiating small pilots to create sustainable and collaborative business models that solve chronic rural challenges and instill independence and bring fresh opportunities to underserved rural communities. |

Thank you & Happy Holidays!
Sincerely,
Dr. Anil Shah, MD

A New Era for Healthcare with Drone Deliveries

In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the TechEagle team, in collaboration with the Meghalaya Health Systems Strengthening Project, has provisioned the launch of Asia’s First Drone Delivery Hub & Network. The success of the pilot launched last year on 23 November 2021 with the Smart Village Movement has enabled the government to propel and strengthen the healthcare supply chain management of the state. It shall be used by providing rapid and safe delivery of healthcare-related items such as medicines, vaccines, blood components, and medical supplies across the state. This revolutionary Drone Delivery Hub and Network situated at Jengal Sub-Divisional Hospital was inaugurated by the Health Minister of Meghalaya, Shri. James P.K. Sangma on November 05, 2022, and with this, Meghalaya became the first state to have a full-fledged drone delivery network for healthcare on-demand supplies. Timely delivery of medicines is one of the most challenging tasks for any doctor, nurse, or paramedic, especially in remote and hilly terrains such as Meghalaya. With the introduction of drone deliveries, the challenges of last-mile access could be successfully addressed. Drones are increasingly being used in public health, as well. The military uses drones for surveillance and reconnaissance, but the civilian sector is also exploring the use cases of this technology. Drones can be a cheaper alternative than manned aircraft, particularly when it comes to transporting objects like medicines or equipment. The usage of drones allows for much faster and more reliable deliveries, which would have dramatic effects on medical treatment in remote areas. Read More |

Young Innovators Challenge 2022

Salesforce, in collaboration with Ink Talks, United Way Hyderabad, and Sauramandala Foundation, organized a unique hackathon in Guwahati, Assam, called the ‘Young Innovators Challenge.’ It is designed for students to develop solutions using STEM skills to help solve community problems. We are thrilled to share that learners from our pilots at Sohrarim and Nongwah Salesforce Trailblazer Community Lab, now a part of Chief Minister’s Youth Centres, participated and competed with other students in the “Young Innovators Challenge 2022”. It was a great opportunity and exposure for them to share their ideas and present their creative projects that aim to solve community problems. SVM is proud of the learners and extends our heartiest congratulations to them. |
