In This Issue SVM Benefit Luncheon 2022 Highlights | Nagaland Government Officials visit to Meghalaya | NavGurukul’s Meraki Program for Technical Skills |

Dear Friends, Rural underdevelopment is one of the main drivers of global poverty and forced migration to crowded urban areas. In many parts of the world, rural areas are lagging behind urban areas in terms of economic development, access to essential services, and quality of life. Bridging the rural-urban gap is at the core of SVM’s mission in socio-economic development in India. To drive awareness to this cause SVM USA held our first Benefit luncheon in June raising $680,000. We are beyond grateful to our friends, partners and donors for this outpouring of confidence and support for our mission. Read on in our JULY Newsletter to learn more about this event, Nagaland’s official orientation visit to our SVM Meghalaya’s pilot projects, and some new projects that will bring more exposure to STEM education and skills to rural communities. Sincerely, Dr. Anil Shah MD |

NavGurukul’s Meraki Program For Technical Skills
On 25th June, we had the first Meraki orientation program. It received a great response where about 80 people attended the orientation session to understand the scope and opportunities of Meraki. Navgurukul’s Meraki and Smart Village Movement are entering into a partnership to teach youth from rural communities to help them build their social and technical skills and leadership qualities, and be employment-ready for the Information Technology sector. There are about 6 batches ready to start the course by August. SVM Team is mobilizing more students by visiting schools, as we aspire to achieve a target of reaching 1500 students through this program. SVM is very excited about this program! |
