We are glad to announce that our organization, Smart Village Movement, is now officially recognised as a public charity in the United States as Smart Village Movement Foundation. This means that we have been recognized by the IRS as a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and that donations made to our organization are tax-deductible for the donors.
A public charity, also known as a nonprofit organization, is an organization that is dedicated to serving the public good, typically through charitable, educational, research, or other socio-economic development activities that benefit the community. Public charities rely on donations and other forms of support from the public in order to carry out their mission, and they are subject to strict rules and regulations in order to maintain their tax-exempt status.
Earlier, SVM was funded as a Private Foundation; now, by transitioning to a Public Charity organization, our organization has demonstrated our commitment to service and to operating in a transparent and accountable manner. We look forward to continuing our work with the support and generosity of our donors and partners.
